My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Cork Breakfast & Wine during Budapest’s Restaurant Week, and our experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the very first bite to the last spoonful of dessert, every dish was crafted with precision, passion, and outstanding flavors.
Borscht with Duck – A Rich and Comforting Start:
The evening began with a delightful twist on the classic borscht. The deep, ruby-red broth was packed with layers of flavor—earthy beets, a subtle tang from vinegar, and the richness of slow-cooked duck. The meat was incredibly tender, adding a luxurious depth to this traditional soup. A dollop of sour cream and fresh herbs balanced the dish perfectly, making every spoonful a warm and satisfying delight.
Greek Salad – A Fresh and Vibrant Interlude: A well-executed Greek salad is a testament to the quality of its ingredients, and this one did not disappoint. Crisp cucumbers, juicy tomatoes, and a generous portion of creamy feta cheese. The drizzle of high-quality olive oil and a hint of oregano tied everything together, making it a refreshing and flavorful palate cleanser between courses.
Salmon – A Masterpiece of Delicate Flavors: The salmon was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside with a beautifully tender and flaky interior. It was expertly seasoned, allowing the natural flavors of the fish to shine through. Served with a side of vibrant vegetables and a light yet flavorful sauce, it was a well-balanced dish that showcased both technique and quality ingredients.
Kiev Cutlets – A Classic Done Right: Perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, these Kiev cutlets were a true highlight of the meal. The first cut revealed a cascade of rich, garlicky butter, soaking into the tender, juicy chicken. Each bite was an explosion of flavor, with the buttery filling enhancing the dish’s overall indulgence. Paired with a delicious side, this traditional favorite was executed flawlessly.
Tiramisu & Napoleon – A Sweet Finale: For dessert, we were treated to two classic choices: tiramisu and Napoleon cake. The tiramisu was an airy, coffee-infused delight with perfectly balanced mascarpone cream and just the right amount of cocoa dusting. The Napoleon, on the other hand, offered a fantastic contrast with its delicate, flaky layers and rich, velvety custard. Both desserts were beautifully presented and the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal.
🍴 Final Thoughts:
Cork Breakfast & Wine delivered an outstanding dining experience, where every dish was prepared with care and expertise. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was impeccable, making us feel truly valued as guests. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a memorable gastronomic experience in Budapest!
